Is ultrasound safe for my baby?

Ultrasound is absolutely safe! Ultrasound images are created by using high frequency sound waves which bounce back from inside of your body to create images of your baby in 2D and 3/4D.

Ultrasound has been proven over the last 30 years to be safe while accessing the anatomical health and well being of your baby during routine prenatal care. There are NO studies that prove any negative outcomes as a direct result of ultrasounds.

We use the most advanced technology (voluson E10) with your safety in mind and adhere to strict guidelines in the elective ultrasound industry. Also be sure an experienced sonographer who is registered by the ARDMS is conducting the scan and Expecting Miracles only hires experienced registered sonographers.

3/4D ultrasound is no more exposure to your baby than the traditional 2D clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams your doctor orders.

Can you keep the gender a surprise during the ultrasound session and put the results in a sealed envelope?

Yes, we love to help you create the perfect gender reveal celebration. During a Sneak Peek Ultrasound session please note if you want to know during your session or if you will be having the gender put into a sealed envlope. We will honor just about any request sending results immediately via email, text or given in a simple yet cute handcrafted complimentary keepsake gender reveal card (at no extra cost).

How accurate is the gender determination of my baby’s sex?

The Sneak Peek genetic gender determination is 99.99% accurate beginning at 6 wks.

The ultrasound is 99% accurate at 6 weeks provided normal genitalia.  NOTE:  the only way to be 100% sure about the sex of the baby is to obtain a clinical genetic gender test for sex chromosomes because although it is rare occasionally fetuses will have anomalous genitals (ie including but not limited to the following: ambiguous genitalia, hypoplastic labia, clitoromegaly, scrotal hypoplasia, and cryptorchidism)

How does the SneakPeek test work?

SneakPeek utilizes the natural process of shared fetal DNA circulating inside the mother’s bloodstream.

The lab uses PCR technology to detect the presence or absence of male Y chromosome in the blood sample provided beginning at 6 weeks into pregnancy. If a Y chromosome is detected then the baby’s gender is male and if it is not detected then the baby’s gender is female.

At your appointment with us, we make collecting moms blood sample a SNAP.

We use SneakPeek’s innovative breakthrough blood collection method which is quick and painless. First the area where the sample will be taken from the outside of the right upper arm is cleaned and all debris is brushed from the skin surface. Then heat is applied to the area and finally the Snap device is adheared to the skin. Next the plunger is activated causing the SneakPeek Snap microneedles to barely scratch the skins surface which will allow a few drops of blood to collect into the tube attached to the SNAP device.

How do I prepare for my elective ultrasound appointment?

Please see How to Prepare for Your Appointment on our packages page.

Do I need a full bladder for my ultrasound?

If you are 12+ weeks, you do not need a full bladder

Do we still have to wear masks (protective face covering) or show proof of COVID vaccination?

No, but please feel free to wear a mask if you are more comfortable, however, our staff will not be wearing a mask.

Can I bring guests and is there an age limit?

We not only welcome guests, we encourage it.

We do NOT impose any restrictions or limitations on the people you want to have with you at your appointment.

We feel it is vital to include and involve those loved ones during this magical time in your life as you begin a new chapter.

What if my baby doesn’t cooperate?

No guarantees can be made or has been made at the time of the imaging as to the picture or video quality and/or content of the imaging due to circumstances beyond the control of Expecting Miracles, LLC, including, but not limited to: the position of the fetus(es), position of the placenta, mother’s body habitus or position of the internal organs of the mother.

If the technician deems beneficial, and you qualify by being in the recommended gestation for your session choice, we offer a complimentary rescan session at no charge within 7 days of initial appointment. If at that time the position of the fetus(es) impedes on the quality of images, all further rescan sessions are only $39.00 per session. Our goal is to give you an unforgettable experience and get some amazing images of your baby regardless of the baby’s position, however sometimes that’s not possible on the first attempt.

Can I get a refund if my baby doesn’t cooperate?

Refunds will not be granted for any circumstances, as we provide a service, not a product.

How long does the appointment take?

This is dependent on the ultrasound session you choose.

What if the sonographer sees something concerning on the elective ultrasound?

While the sonographer is not specifically evaluating any fetal anatomy, we will contact your provider if there is something that is life threatening to mom or baby incidentally visualized on the elective ultrasound or there are no fetal heart tones.

2D is the traditional black and white image used to evaluate the anatomy of a fetus used as a standard in all diagnostic or clinical ultrasound imaging. Beautiful profiles can be obtained in this standard view.

3D is a volume rendering of a 2D image which gives the view of the image from the outside only. For example, rendering a 2D image of a profile will give you a clear image of the fetal face.

4D is a live movement of a 3D image. The 4th dimension is movement in real time so we can see a baby make facial expressions or yawn or stretch in 3D.

HD LIVE (5D) is simply clear High Definition using a light source

Do you offer 5D ultrasound?

5D ultrasound (only used with a Samsung
product) which is commonly used to describe the HD LIVE feature with the GE Voluson product.

Currently we are the only elective ultrasound facility using a GE Voluson E10 in the state and surrounding areas. The E10 has the most advanced ultrasound imaging capabilities available today.

The GE Voluson E10 offers Real Glimpse – HDLive Studio and provides Silhouette imaging to enhance features on a HD Live image by having the ability to change the position of the light source.

Be educated and be sure to ask what ultrasound system is being used as they might be falsely advertising 5D ultrasound capability.

Absolutely! This is a very important question that should not be overlooked when deciding where to schedule your elective 3/4D appointment.

Please do your research and choose an elective facility who employs registered sonographers credentialed by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography® (ARDMS®).
